To help you relax and have a comfortable experience at our office, our experienced dentists and team offer sedation dentistry in Escondido and San Diego, California. If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment with Dr. Christy Chen and associates at A+ Dental & Implant Center, contact us at 760-566-7434 today.

If you are stressed or nervous for your dental appointment, we provide sedation dentistry to help you feel comfortable and calm while receiving treatment. We offer several dental sedation options:

    • Nitrous oxide, or laughing gas. You will breathe in a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen via a nose mask during treatment, which will help you relax. The effects wear off in the few minutes after we turn off the gas flow.

    • Oral sedation. This sedation option comes in the form in oral medication that you will take before the appointment. You should feel the calming effects of the medication by the time you come in for your treatment.

  • IV sedation. The medication is delivered through your veins, quickening the sedation process. Our dentists can adjust the sedation level to keep you comfortable. IV sedation does not make you unconscious, since it is a type of conscious sedation. However, you may fall asleep and not fully remember everything about your treatment afterwards.

Our dentists and team are trained in dental sedation and will help ensure your safety during treatment, monitoring you during your appointment. If you receive oral or IV sedation, you should have a family member or friend drive you to the appointment and back. With nitrous oxide, it should be safe for you to drive yourself back after your visit.

Sedation dentistry is definitely a great option to consider if you have dental anxiety or have had bad experiences with a dentist before, but you can also opt for sedation dentistry if you are just feeling nervous about receiving dental treatment. We also recommend looking into sedation dentistry if you have a very sensitive gag reflex or find that it is hard to get numb.
